Battlefield 3 beta has entered its 2nd phase introducing the Caspian Border Map. For the very first time, the public got a run around opportunity this time not on foot, but in tanks, jeeps, choppers and jets, taking these for a spin.

As a tankie since BF 1942 days, the first thing I noticed was the disabling mechanic, adding a touch to realism. If your tank is too damaged, it will have a movement penalty and eventually being unable to move. This changes many things in tank warfare as things such as first strike, positional advantage comes more critically into play. it gives engineers a bigger role too.

In the map, everyone seems to be an engineer. Can't be help thoughas it is defintiely the best class to try out for vehicles. Also, 64 players in the server is now enabled. However this problaby caused of a server lag. This greatly affected the driving of the jeep as my graphics kept shaking at high speeds, even now I am reeling with a headache. The Caspian border map is pretty huhg too and I believe it'll take me a while to fully explore it.

Nonetheless, seeing all the vehicles rolling forward on the field and blowing things up in a tank made me feel right back at home at the Battlefield.
